Our First Bee Health Day - Saturday 17 August 24

Thanks to the Bee Health Team of Ilona, Morag and Gordon for organising the Association’s first Bee Health Day at the Bridge of Allan Parish Church Halls.  A good mix of Association members and visitors were treated to a series of lectures on:

  • biosecurity and cleaning
  • pollen and importance to bee health
  • shook swarm
  • varroa
  • non-notifiable diseases
  • notifiable diseases and Asian hornet
  • Chronic Bee Paralysis Virus (CBPV)

Every day is a learning day and it is always great to keep yourself up to date with the latest guidance and advice from our expert Bee Health Team, with special thanks going to Lorraine Johnstone, SRUC Bee Advisor, for again traveling to us and presenting to us.

Thanks to the Bee Health team and Lorraine for making such enjoyable presentations, also to the ‘home’ team of your trustees for assisting on the day, and especially Carol for organising the teas and coffees.

It is designed for beekeepers and provides an invaluable resource of information to help you manage healthy colonies.
It supports UK-wide Healthy Bee Plans with a dedicated section on Beekeeping in Scotland where bee health is a devolved matter.
If you haven’t already visited BeeBase website, we strongly recommend that you do. Registering your apiary is the next logical step and doing so will keep you up-to-date with disease outbreaks in your area.
