The New Beekeepers’ Course starts in January with eight weekly Tuesday evening lectures followed by practical ‘Hands On Beekeeping’ at the Association Apiary in the grounds of Stirling University on Sunday afternoons from April to September.
The Course is suitable for people who want to explore the opportunity of keeping bees as a hobby and what this involves, whether you seek to keep bees this coming year and wish to increase your knowledge base, or whether you may simply be interested in finding out more about these amazing creatures.  All the lessons are delivered by experienced beekeepers, many of whom have advanced their learning through further training, and have experience of keeping their own bees, either as hobbyist beekeepers or bee farmers.  The Course is supported by the Association’s renowned guidebook ‘The Basics to Beekeeping’, which you will be given in hard copy.
The Course is followed by our ‘Hands On Beekeeping’ gives a unique opportunity to work the Apiary hives under the supervision of experienced beekeepers to put into practice the learning from the lessons. This is an invaluable experience and feedback from participants has been overwhelmingly positive year-on-year.
The whole Course costs £100, which covers the lectures, Handbook and visits to the Apiary.
Please note that you would also be expected to take your membership for the year separately.
Should your plans change and you no longer wish to attend, DSBA will refund you minus an admin fee of £5.
